They’re not demons

They’re not bad guys
Many black companies are bad guys—criminals, spies, and terrorists. The Black Companies, on the other hand, are good guys who happen to work for the government. They’re considered a model of professional conduct by the government, and they’re often rewarded with positions in the government. The Black Company in China is called the Association of Chinese Assassins; the Black Company in other countries is often referred to as the China League of Assassins. Most members of the Association of Chinese Assassins are high-ranking figures in the Chinese government; some also hold important positions in the PLA.
They respond to an order
Many Black Companies are assassins who are ordered to kill targets by higher-ups in the Chinese government. The Association of Chinese Assassins is a good example of this. In reality, the Black Company is a paramilitary organization that’s tasked with protecting the country from those who may threaten it. However, the members of the China League of Assassins are also investigating reports of widespread Assassins’ Guild activity. This means they’re in a position to act as a shadow government when it comes to the organization.
If they see something wrong, they report it
Most Black Companies report problems to the authorities, but some don’t. The Association of Chinese Assassins works with the authorities in other countries, so they know to report problems to the authorities in those countries. While a Black Company report of non-existent attacks against the interests of the state can be very damaging to a country, it’s also very rare. The average member of the Association of Chinese Assassins will say the report is “not a big deal” and move on to the next mission.
