PQShield is a British cybersecurity company that specializes in post-quantum cryptography. The company offers a variety of cryptography solutions, including a system on a chip and cryptographic SDK, for a range of uses. These can be integrated into mobile apps, server apps, and other applications to secure sensitive data. In addition, PQShield offers ready-made IP for secure elements such as cryptographic key management and cryptographic firmware. It can also offer cryptography licensing.
Collins Aerospace
PQShield is the first UK based cryptography company to provide quantum-ready cryptographic solutions. It has a number of clients, including governments, automobile OEMs, and industrial IoT. The company is also working with other organizations to create standards for quantum-ready cryptography. They have also announced a major licensing deal with Microchip Technology, as well as a new partnership with Collins Aerospace.
PQShield’s solutions have three different types, each providing exceptional protection against today’s biggest threats. Their products are designed to be compatible with existing infrastructure, and are prepared for future quantum attacks. PQShield’s post-quantum cryptographic tools are already being used in the commercial market, and demand has been growing across sectors. By 2022, the company plans to double its team and expand its presence into the US and EMEA.
Standards and Technology
PQShield is part of the NIST post-quantum cryptography standardization project. This is a program that has been finalized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology in the US. According to the company, “this is the first step in the adoption of quantum-ready cryptography.” After completing the standardization process, the National Institute of Standards and Technology will begin the process of selecting a final standard for quantum-ready cryptography.
As of now, PQShield is one of the leading contributors to the NIST post-quantum cryptography project. Aside from participating in the standardization process, the company is one of the few companies to have completed a full demonstration of quantum-safe cryptography in application. This includes a quantum-ready library, an IoT firmware, and a cryptographic SDK. Other organizations are working to produce post-quantum cryptographic solutions, but PQShield is the only provider to have achieved a full demonstration of these tools.
Data communications
PQShield has a strong track record of delivering quantum-ready cryptographic solutions, and has recently announced several deals for the introduction of such technologies. Founded in 2009, PQ Solutions was formed to commercialize defense-grade innovation in wireless and data communications. Since then, it has signed deals with a number of partners.
PQShield has teamed up with a number of institutions, including Oxford University’s Mathematical Institute. The company is led by Dr Ali El Kaafarani, a research fellow at the Mathematical Institute. He has over a decade of academic and industrial experience. Currently, he serves as PQShield’s CEO.
PQShield has recently hired Graeme Hickey as Senior Director of Engineering. Ben Packman was appointed as SVP Strategy, Alan Grau as VP Business Development, and Michael Vroobel as VP Operations. In addition to these new staff members, the company has expanded its advisory board to include Professor Peter Schwabe and Professor Chris Peikert.
